Skincare is something I love experimenting with. New products, new treatments, new gadgets all bring me lots of joy. Having healthy, fresh, glowy skin is something I strive for. I could spend absolutely HOURS watching skincare routines on YouTube and could spend HUNDREDS on skincare products…..if I had that kind of money. 😉
Recently I have been trying out a few medical grade products and even got my first Microdermabrasion treatment at The Iowa Clinic Medspa. Here are a few of my skincare loves right now:
- The microdermabrasion treatment at The Iowa Clinic. I want to go back and get a million more facials. I left feeling SO confident about my skin. It was smoother, brighter, and glowier. In my quest for perfect skin I have heard that facials and treatments are pretty essential for anti-aging. In fact I read up and found out that it is recommended to work facials into your routine at least every 3 months. So let’s chat about this Microderm situation I experienced because you may want to try it yourself. “Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair the skin on your face and refine its texture and tone. It can help control breakouts, even out your skin tone and reduce fine lines, wrinkles and pore size.” I noticed results almost immediately after leaving the office. My face rested as quickly as an hour later. I felt like my makeup has gone on so much smoother since getting the facial.Without a doubt I have been feeling like a new woman since my appointment and cannot wait for my next treatment. I can’t recommend it enough.Linking the Iowa Clinic’s Med Spa here for all you Des Moines residents that want to check it out for yourself.
- Medical Grade Skincare products like the Osmosis Quench Plus+ Plumping Moisturizer, which has been one of the best moisturizers I have used and has tremendously helped my dry skin. I found a YouTube channel that talks mainly med grade products and I am slowly working my way to switching my entire routine over. When I was at The Iowa Clinic MedSpa they also told me it was for sure time to start using products with better ingredients in them. They carry Obagi and Revisions in their office. While many of the brands we hear about from bloggers and Instagram seem popular, the medical grade skincare companies spend their money on the research and the ingredients instead of the advertising.
- I have also found out something I have been doing wrong for years when it comes to skincare…and that is washing with only my hands. I recently read an article and watched a few videos on this. Without a tool, whether it be a high end Clarisonic, or a low end beauty sponge you can’t get a great below the surface clean. Since starting to use a scrubby each time I wash I have noticed a major difference in the appearance of my skin.
I have an entire SKIN highlight on my Instagram page, because skincare is truly one of my favorite areas to explore. If you are up for learning about my favs be sure to check that out.
